Description
Lungwort is a generic term for plants used in folk remedies to treat lung disease. The two best known lungwort are common lungwort, also known as Jerusalem cowslip, and Virginia bluebell, also known as Virginia cowslip. Common lungwort is an annual plant native to Europe and Asia with bell-shaped blue flowers. Virginia cowslip grows in the eastern part of North America.
Both common lungwort and Virginia bluebells belong to the Boraginaceae family. The Latin name for common lungwort is Pulmonaria officinalis and the Latin name for Virginia bluebells is Mertensia virginica.
Function:
